Community Trust Bank was organized and opened for business as The Bank of Choudrant on November 12, 1912. The original bank building was on Railroad Street in Choudrant, Louisiana. In 1959 the bank relocated to its present location at 3921 Elm Street, introducing the first drive-thru window in Lincoln Parish. With assets of $21 million in 1987, The Bank of Choudrant acquired The Bank of Bernice (organized in 1901) and its branch in Farmerville, Louisiana. This acquisition added an additional $18 million in assets, and The Bank of Choudrant officially became Community Trust Bank.
In 1991, a bank holding company, CTB Financial Corporation, was organized and its stock was exchanged for all outstanding shares of Community Trust Bank, with the former shareholders of the bank becoming shareholders of the holding company. Consequently, the holding company now owns Community Trust Bank, now a $400 million community bank leader in Northeast Louisiana with eleven offices spanning a three-parish area.
