| Sirtris Pharmaceuticals is focused on generating pharmaceuticals targeting
the sirtuins, otherwise known as class III histone deacetylases (HDACs).
These enzymes are attractive drug targets for metabolism, inflammation, cancer
and neurodegeneration. Sirtris was co-founded by Richard Aldrich, Richard
Pops, Paul Schimmel, David Sinclair and Christoph Westphal in 2004. Other
members of the Sirtris Board of Directors are John Clarke, Stephen Hoffman,
and John Freund. The company's consultants and Scientific Advisory Board
include several members with experience founding and building leading biotechs
such as Genetics Institute, Biogen, Alkermes, Momenta, Alnylam and others; as
well as leaders in the biochemistry, chemistry, structural biology, delivery,
and cell biology surrounding class III HDACs. Among them are Vern Schramm,
Thomas Salzmann, Bob Langer, Tom Maniatis, Phil Sharp, Colin Gardner, Eric
Gordon, Chris Walsh, Ron Kahn, Paul Schimmel, Frank Bullock, David Sinclair,
