| Founded in 1957 and headquartered in Miami, the National Parkinson Foundation was created to serve those affected by Parkinson disease and NPF has invested tens of millions of dollars for research into the cause of and cure for Parkinson disease. In addition to Parkinson-related research, NPF supports patient care, education, training, and outreach by providing information, support, and education for persons with Parkinson, their families, and healthcare professionals. Currently, there are 39 affiliated NPF Chapters throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Bahamas, in addition to 39 NPF Centers of xcellence, 8 NPF Care Centers and 7 NPF Outreach Centers.
