David formed the company in 1987 after working for BOOR/A Architects
in Portland for six years. Following graduation from The City College
of New York, David worked for a leading N.Y.C. firm specializing in
low and moderate income housing prior to his arrival in Portland in
1981. Tim Schouten joined the firm in 1993 after working for SERA Architects
for four years. Prior to joining Sera, Tim worked for CYP Inc, Architecture
and Planning in California. Tim became a principal in 2000. The diversity
of style in their small-scale projects has often been described as a
strong point by clients because it has shown their ability to listen
to the client’s goals and needs. Maintaining a small firm has
allowed the principals to maintain a close relationship with team members
as well as allowing all team members to maintain a close relationship
with all aspects
