John A. Cox, President & CEO
John Cox began operations after acquiring all applicable federal authorities in May of 1982 following the passage of the Motor Carrier Act of 1980. His previous work experience afforded him knowledge in both the LTL and truckload segments of the industry. Most of his early years were spent in terminal management and sales where he progressed in positions of responsibility with several motor carriers. Just prior to founding The Cox Companies, he was General Sales Manager for a nationwide truckload carrier in Richmond, VA. The first company founded under his leadership was Cox Truck Brokerage, Inc., a 3rd party logistics firm. Then, in 1984, the trucking operation, Cox Transportation Services, Inc., was created to handle truckload motor carrier services throughout the USA for valued customers. Having a strong commitment to American values and love of country, he early on came up with the motto ?Trucking for America? which is proudly displayed on compa
