Marilyn Boughan, Don Boughan, and William Boughan operate a very well-managed progressive company.
Bonus Transportation, Inc. started as a small, family enterprise. It all began for the Boughan family in 1979. Bob Boughan, his wife Marilyn, and sons Bill and Don were all working for the same large trucking firm in Apopka, Florida. Having been involved in trucking since 1947, Bob felt that they had what it takes to run their own company.
Marilyn recalls, "we were working so many hours for somebody else, we just decided that if we were going to put in all that time, we should be doing it for ourselves."
So, in October of 1979, with one credit card, four Mack tractors, a tire repair truck that did outside work, and a loan on the equipment, the Boughan family started its own company.
The business began by leasing those trucks to Midwest Coast Transport out of Sioux
