Richard J. Freer, Ph.D.COO
Since founding Commonwealth Biotechnologies, Inc., in 1992 with three other partners, Dr. Freer has served as Chairman of the Board and as a Director of the Company. From 1975 until 1997, Dr. Freer was employed in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Virginia Commonwealth University, rising through the academic ranks to full Professor. In addition, from 1988-1995, Dr. Freer was first Director and then Chair of the Biomedical Engineering Program. Freer received the Bachelor's degree in Biology/Chemistry from Marist College, Poughkeepsie, NY, and the Doctoral degree from Columbia University in Pharmacology. Dr. Freer is the co-author of more than 150 peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters, in his area of research expertise, molecular pharmacology, peptide receptors, and is a co-inventor of 2 US patents.
