Clarimedix, Inc. has recently gained a new investment from Johnson & Johnson Corporate Office of Science and Technology (COSAT). Though the financial terms of the funding remain undisclosed, it was mentioned in Clarimedix’s press release that it will be used to conduct a human proof-of-concept study. You can read that press release here.
Meanwhile, the company’s CEO John Dunning shared a bit more about Clarimedix in this recent e-interview with Lead411:
Who are your competitors and how are you different from them?
They fall into three categories: (i) other nitric oxide donor
therapies, (ii) other light therapies, (iii) other drugs that might treat
these diseases by other means. We are different from them as follows:
(1) NO donor therapies – we stimulate our effect locally and
without side effects. They are systemic and cause side effects through out
the body that limit their use
(2) Other light therapies – are not optimized, they used
generic forms of light or light designed for depth of penetration, not for
stimulation. We have optimized for stimulation to achieve a more powerful
effect.
(3) Other drugs – this would be an extensive list since we
are going after three indications currently but suffice it to say we believe
our local, powerful effect, without side effects will prove very
differentiated.
If this is your first round of financing and you’re the CEO, how
many hours did you put into working on getting your financing? Was that taking up the most of your day?
In an early stage company financing takes up at least 50% of a CEO’s time on
an ongoing basis.
If you are the CEO, what are your biggest challenges?
Financing.
When were you founded?
2006.
How much did you revenue increase(if any) this year over last
year?
We are pre-revenue.
