| Karl Bressler founded AGAR more than 60 years ago, selling meat to Chinese restaurants. Many local Chinese restaurant owners had difficulty acquiring the special cuts of pork they required. By developing a way to deliver specialized cuts of meat, Karl Bressler was able to satisfy the needs of a growing local community. This special bond remains strong today. AGAR still maintains an office in the heart of Chinatown.
Alan Bressler, Karl’s son, joined the business at an early age and helped build AGAR to the point where it was the largest meat distributor in New England. By utilizing his strong entrepreneurial skills, Alan also expanded the business, helped construct a new, modern facility in Taunton, MA, and laid the groundwork for the future.
Today, Alan’s daughter, Karen Bressler serves as the company’s Chief Executive Officer. Karen is continuing the family tradition of delivering quality food products to AGAR customers.
