| Aaron Rents, Inc. is engaged in the combined businesses of rental, lease ownership and specialty retailing of residential and office furniture, consumer electronics, household appliances and accessories. The Company's major operating divisions are the Aaron's Sales & Lease Ownership division, the Aaron Rents' Rent-to-Rent division and the MacTavish Furniture Industries division, which supplies nearly one-half of the furniture and related accessories rented and sold in the Company's stores. As of December 31, 2002, the Company had 644 sales and lease ownership stores, including 387 Company-operated sales and lease ownership stores, 25 Company-operated Sight & Sound stores and 232 franchised stores in 43 states and Puerto Rico. There were 70 rent-to-rent stores in the Company's rent-to-rent division in 16 states, as of December 31, 2002. |
