Aera Energy LLC is California's leading oil and gas producer, operating properties extending from the LA Basin in the south to Coalinga in the north. With headquarters in Bakersfield,Calif,Aera Energy employs about 1,100 people &hundreds of contractor companies. We produce approximately 250,000 barrels of oil and 90 million cubic feet of natural gas each day and have proved oil and natural gas reserves equivalent to one billion barrels of oil. Aera Energy, which began operating June 1,1997, consists of the California onshore and offshore exploration and production (E & P) assets formerly operated by CalResources LLC (a Shell Oil Company affiliate) & Mobil Exploration and Producing US Inc. (a Mobil Corporation affiliate). On November 1, 1998, the onshore California E&P properties of ARCO Western Energy were transferred to Aera Energy by Mobil, following a property exchange between Mobil and ARCO. Today Aera Energy is jointly owned by Shell and ExxonMobil & is governed by its own board of managers.The company & its owners represent more than 75 years of industry leadership and commitment to California. The California-based refining, retail petroleum marketing and pipeline operations of Shell & ExxonMobil are not included in Aera Energy.
