| Central States Distribution Service, Inc. is a major regional warehousing, distribution and packaging services provider, with 750,000 square feet of space. Central States is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Smith Investment Company, located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Central States Distribution Service, Inc. was developed in 1983 with 90,500 square feet of space. In 1985, the company expanded into value added packaging services. This division provides additional value-added services to Central States customers. In 1987, Central States built a 200,000 square foot facility, and following the acquisition by Smith Investment Company in 1990 we built a 300,000 square foot facility that includes our corporate offices.
Central States utilizes a warehouse management system that assures efficient document preparation, accurate product and inventory data management, a full complement of reporting capabilities, and future system flexibility. This system is upgraded as necessary to meet customer and internal needs. We utilize customer owned and connected terminals and printers when desired.
