In the early 1990s, the founders of EnableSoft assisted financial institutions in the transfer and conversion of data from branches of newly acquired banks to their clients' host systems. However, most of their clients were unable to access the databases and source code embedded on their mainframe and midrange host systems, and the programming resources needed to write programs to access the data were unavailable or prohibitively expensive. Their clients were required to manually re-enter the converted data on their host systems - a tedious, costly, time-consuming and error-prone process.
