| First BancTrust Corporation is principally concerned with attracting deposits from the general public and using those funds to originate loans secured by one- to four-family residential properties, commercial real estate loans, agricultural real estate loans, commercial and industrial loans, agricultural production finance loans, consumer loans and other loans. The Company owns First Bank & Trust, s.b. of Paris, Illinois (the Bank), which was converted from an Illinois-chartered mutual savings bank to an Illinois-chartered stock savings bank. As of December 31, 2002, First BancTrust had consolidated total assets, liabilities and stockholders' equity of $202.7 million, $175.4 million and $27.3 million, respectively. The Company originates loans and solicits deposits through the Bank, but otherwise conducts no significant business except through the Bank, the Bank's subsidiary and the Company's other non-bank subsidiaries. |
