| Welcome to International Transmission Company! We are in the business of transmitting high-voltage electricity throughout southeastern Michigan, providing the gateway for energy delivery to the Midwest and for the international markets to our neighbors in Canada. We are the nation's first fully independent, for-profit transmission business and began operations in March 2003.
Our focus is transmission investments in infrastructure to enhance reliability and relieve congestion, and to lower the delivered energy cost to consumers.
ITC's service territory covers approximately 7,600 square miles throughout 12 counties in Michigan, including the metropolitan areas of Detroit and Ann Arbor, which have a population of approximately 4.9 million. Our facilities include approximately 2,500 circuit miles of overhead and underground transmission lines, 13,500 towers and poles, and 28 stations connecting our facilities. We also own and manage the Michigan Electric Power Coordination Center located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Our corporate headquarters is located in Novi, Michigan.
