| North Valley Bancorp operates as the holding company for North Valley Bank and NVB Business Bank, which provide commercial and retail banking services in California. The bank attracts deposits form the general public and using the funds to originate loans. It accepts demand, savings, money market rate deposit accounts, and time deposits. The bank offers commercial, financial, and agricultural loans; real estate loans; mortgage loans; installment loans; and direct financing leases to small and middle market businesses, and middle income individuals. In addition, it issues cashier's checks and money orders, and sells travelers' checks, as well as provides safe deposit boxes and other customary banking services. As of March 31, 2006, North Valley Bank operated 21 branches, including two supermarket branches in Northern California; and NVB Business Bank operated five branches.
