Harness racing is a popular sport around the world, and today more than twenty harness racing tracks operate across this country. Harness racing has a rich history in Minnesota, beginning with the legend of Minnesota's Dan Patch - the greatest racehorse of the 20th century.
The North Metro Harness Initiative is comprised of a group of Minnesota business people and horse racing enthusiasts. This group aims to bring the harness racing tradition back to Minnesota with a privately-owned and operated harness racing track and entertainment facility in Anoka County.
