Benj. E. Sherman & Sons (BES), founded in 1922, is a third generation, Chicago-based real estate firm. Benjamin E. Sherman, the firm's founder, opened the first office space on the West Side of Chicago.
In 1948, Leonard H. Sherman joined the family business. Leonard was one of the city's leading condominium converters and also was responsible for several land accumulations. His son, David, joined BES in 1986 after graduating from Harvard Business School. Under his direction the company has continued to thrive and expand its investment portfolio. Since 1990, the company has acquired over 11,000 apartments valued at over $600 million.
Sherman Residential was formed at the new millennium to reflect the focus and direction of this National business. Our family roots still remain however, as we continue to pursue our goal of being the best owner and operator of multifamily properties in the United States with a group of talented industry veterans.
