SGK is a mid-size firm with a broad civil practice offering particular strengths and capabilities in several key areas. These include corporate matters, commercial and business transactions, employee benefits, labor and employment law, tax planning and counseling, litigation, services for financial institutions, and estates and trusts. The firm was founded in 1990 when three long-established firms combined their practices. SGK is the successor to Cooper, German, Kelly & Purcell, P.C.; Campbell, Sherrard & Burke, P.C.; and Alter, Wright and Barron. The lawyers of SGK share a common heritage of helping businesses and individuals that extends back to the 1870s. And, in this complex and litigious age, we remain committed personally and organizationally to carrying on the traditions of responsive client service, cost effectiveness, and quality performance.
Our approach to the practice of law is simple and direct: We provide prompt, responsive, high quality legal work at a reasonable cost in order to help clients take advantage of opportunities and resolve problems. As a mid-size firm, SGK has the resources and expertise to accommodate our clients' needs, but unlike many larger firms, we are not bound by bureaucratic restrictions and have the flexibility and innovativeness to achieve optimal results.
Our attorneys have extensive experience practicing before all levels of the Pennsylvania court system, the Federal U.S. District Courts and Appellate Courts as well as numerous state and federal courts in jurisdictions outside of Pennsylvania. We also are experienced in handling a variety of international legal matters. We have the depth and diversity of highly skilled personnel needed to handle complex legal situations, and yet we strive to provide the small firm style of personalized, one-to-one service that most clients desire.
