| Silicon Light Machines was formed in 1994 (originally called Echelle, Inc.) to develop and commercialize a range of products based on the Grating Light Valve™ (GLV™) technology. The GLV technology, first invented at Stanford University, is a unique type of optical Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems, or MEMS technology. The GLV technology creates microstructures on the surface of a silicon chip that can switch, attenuate, modulate, and re-direct light. |
