| Established in November, 2003, Team Northeast Ohio (“NEO”) is a private sector-led regional economic development organization. Founded by FirstEnergy Corporation, the Greater Akron Chamber, the Stark Development Board, the Lorain County Chamber of Commerce, the Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber, Cleveland Tomorrow and the Greater Cleveland Growth Association (together with Cleveland Tomorrow, now the Greater Cleveland Partnership).
Team NEO acts as the regional catalyst to understand the needs of the key industries of the region and develop public-private partnerships to provide solutions to address them. Through this role, Team NEO serves as the first point of contact for businesses in targeted industries that are seeking to locate or expand in Northeast Ohio.
The Team NEO concept emerged in 2002 in response to the business community’s need for a strategically coordinated economic development agenda that leverages the strengths of Northeast Ohio. These strengths include a history of innovation, proximity to major North American markets, an extensive transportation network, an exceptional higher education system, and a thirteen county market that is home to over 4 million residents, 2 million workers and a $134 billion economy.The Team NEO staff is primarily comprised of professionals with extensive experience in private industry.
