A "boutique law firm" is legal jargon referring to a small law firm which has carved out a niche for itself by practicing in a field of law which has relatively few competing firms. Such a practice demands a devotion to a particular field of law as well as an ability to practice that type of law well. Our particular niche is federal personnel law. Law firms and attorneys with experience in this field of law are, relatively speaking, few and far between.
