This year's Tech 200 list was fiercely competitive. The finalists on our list ranked highest for revenue and growth among all our applicants. In the past we've focused on the top 500 companies, but this year we wanted to boil it down to the best of the best; that's why we whittled it down to 200 companies. Everyone else focuses on 500 companies (Inc., Deloitte), but we want to get laser focus on what makes the top 200 rise up, and we thought you might learn a thing or two from them!
What makes these companies so successful? Is it their balance of marketing activity? ROI? Profitability? Our Tech 200 aren't revealing their closely guarded secrets, but we can still glean a lot from the data in our survey. Find out who's spending money where, and who sees the economy picking up soon.
We rank the Tech 200 based on revenue percentage growth from 2008 to 2010. Applicants had to be a privately-held business in the United States, and have earned more than $1 million in the past year.
